Business Owner Training & Mentorship

The capability stays with you after I leave

I have trained and supported over 100 business owners on how to run technology decisions themselves — reading a vendor proposal, sizing an ERP budget, holding a developer accountable, reading their own operational numbers. Consulting solves this quarter's problem; capability solves the next ten.

What you end up with

  • Owners who can evaluate a software proposal without a translator
  • Ops teams that use the system fully instead of the 20% they were shown
  • Internal champions who can run phase two without external help
  • Technology decisions made on economics, not on a salesperson's demo
Is this you?

Signs you need this

If two or three of these sound familiar, it is probably worth a conversation.

  • You cannot judge whether a software proposal is reasonable
  • Your team uses a fraction of a system you paid a lot for
  • You depend on outside help for changes you feel you should manage yourself
  • A new hire takes months to learn systems nobody has documented
  • You want to stop needing a consultant for every decision
Scope

What is actually delivered

Not a statement of intent — the concrete artefacts and outcomes you receive.

01

Vendor evaluation toolkit

The scorecards and question lists I use myself when assessing a proposal, adapted to your business, so you can run the next evaluation without me.

02

Reading your own numbers

A working session on your actual reports — what each figure means, which ones matter, and which are quietly misleading you. Most owners have never had anyone walk them through this properly.

03

A recorded knowledge base

Session recordings and written notes kept in one place, so the training keeps paying off as your team changes rather than leaving with whoever attended.

04

Owner intensives

Focused sessions on ERP literacy, build-versus-buy economics, vendor evaluation and reading operational data.

05

Team system training

Role-based, hands-on training in your own live system with your own data — not generic slideware.

06

SOPs & documentation

Written procedures and recorded walkthroughs your next hire can learn from on day one.

07

Ongoing advisory

A retained sounding board for technology decisions, proposals and hiring as they come up.

Method

How the engagement runs

  1. 01

    Assess

Establish where the owner and the team actually are, honestly.

  2. 02

    Teach

Structured sessions built on your real systems and real numbers.

  3. 03

    Apply

Guided practice on live decisions, with me reviewing rather than deciding.

  4. 04

    Sustain

Documentation, internal champions and periodic advisory check-ins.

Questions

Training & Mentorship: common questions

Often more so, not less. An IT person handles the technology; the gap is usually the owner's ability to judge investments and the team's ability to use systems fully. Training both sides makes your existing IT person considerably more effective, because the requests they receive start making sense.
